RE.OBRE was born from the idea of creating an accessible housing space for that most forgotten part of the population when it comes to offering a place to put down roots in order to grow up in the world of work: young people.
In a context in which housing has reached inaccessible limits for a large majority of young people and salaries are decreasing more and more, many people cannot afford to acquire a home independently until a very advanced age, which forces them to remain living with their parents until an early age or to emancipate themselves with economic aid, with the help of their parents or to share housing with friends, relatives, acquaintances, partners, etc.
The intention of this project is to create a housing space with optimal conditions, so that the inhabitant does not stop having quality of life, as well as a space where they can emancipate themselves and grow in the world of work. The space chosen for the proposal is the old Can Batlló factory, located on Barcelona's Gran Vía.
The project is focused on demonstrating the importance of social housing from the need to help as many people as possible. That is why the idea of converting an industrial warehouse into a space for young people who cannot afford housing and need a little push to be able to afford it. In this way you manage to help not just one person, but several. Because when the first guest reaches his or her goal of being able to afford a house, the space would be occupied by a new member with the same needs as the previous one, forming a chain of favours among young people.
