Eina takes part in Extramural, the Museu Tàpies programme dedicated to art in the public realm

Eina is once again taking part in Extramural, the annual programme organised by Museu Tàpies that invites contemporary artists to intervene in the public realm through projects that connect art, critical thinking and civic engagement. Developed in collaboration with the Barcelona Grec Festival and an extensive network of cultural institutions, the programme transforms the city into a space for artistic creation, dialogue and shared reflection, fostering collaboration between institutions, communities and artists to rethink the ways in which we inhabit our surroundings.

The third edition features artist Dora García, who presents Timelines / Resurrection, a project that reinterprets the concept of resurrection as an act of justice capable of recovering memories, reactivating silenced narratives and giving visibility to people and communities that have historically been excluded. Through installations, performances, debates, screenings and site-specific walks across Barcelona, the project invites audiences to reflect on memory, gender, violence, identity and forms of collective resistance.

Eina's contribution also extends to the development of the artistic project itself. Students from the University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD) and the Bachelor in Design have collaborated in the research and creative process behind Corocuerpo (de feminidades disidentes o Mejor os calláis todos), the performance created by Dora García and Mari Lyn Diniz that will be presented on 4 and 6 July as part of the Grec Festival. Inspired by the speech delivered by trans activist Sylvia Rivera during the 1973 New York Pride March, the performance takes the form of a Greek chorus composed of trans women to denounce the structural violence of cisnormative discourse and reclaim dissident genealogies. The work also incorporates excerpts from O Amor, by Gal Costa, establishing a conceptual link with El Bicho, the project's large-scale participatory performance based on The Bedbug (La chinche, 1929) by Vladimir Mayakovsky. Both works share the idea of resurrection as an act of justice and the recovery of silenced voices, while inviting audiences to play an active role in the construction of collective memory.

The research and production phase has involved Daniela Barriga, Isidora Cruz, Berta Esteve, Bárbara Lara Leiva, Benjamin Muñoz and Mitzi Reyna, students on Eina's University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD), together with Lucas Camacho, Carla López and Sara Mato, students on the Bachelor in Design. Their participation reflects the school's educational approach, which promotes learning through involvement in real cultural projects and direct collaboration with leading artists and cultural institutions.

The collaboration between Eina and Museu Tàpies will continue in the autumn with the seminar Death and Resistance, to be held on 21 and 22 October at Eina Sentmenat. Conceived by Dora García, the seminar takes the work of writer and thinker Elias Canetti as its starting point to explore memory, death, resistance and forms of collective action. The programme will also include the presentation of the special issue of Convit/e, dedicated to this edition of Extramurs, and will conclude on 24 October with a walk through Montjuïc Cemetery exploring memory, funerary archives and the relationships between space, history and political transformation.

Through its participation in Extramural, Eina reinforces its commitment to projects that bring together research, artistic creation and critical thinking, strengthening its role as a university that fosters experimentation, collaboration and the shared production of knowledge between students, artists and cultural institutions.
