Photography and Editorial Design

Programme

  • Photography (6 ECTS)
    Manel Esclusa
The photography provides the student with the methodology to complete a personal photographic project for its subsequent publication in a book. The student's learning will be complemented by knowledge of photography book publishing with the participation of photographers, editors and curators, who will speak of their experience in the field of photography.

  • Photography Books (6 ECTS)
    Martí Ferré
Photography Books will pose two different challenges to the students: graphically and editorially resolve a book by a photographer chosen from among those proposed, with a series of production conditions that will develop creative attitudes; and, secondly, design and edit a book with the student's own photographs produced in the Photography workshop with Manel Esclusa, with no determinants and with the fundamental aim of creating and presenting a signature photography book.

  • Periodical Publications (6 ECTS)
    Pilar Górriz
The Periodical Publications subject provides students with a theoretical basis in the use of graphic design elements (typography, screen, composition, make-up, etc.) in order to be able to design periodical publications that feature significant use of photography. Two projects will be completed: an exercise in the creation of a product catalogue, and a more extensive monographic magazine project.

  • Production and Editorial (6 ECTS)
    Dolors Soriano
This subject offers a theoretical and practical vision of editorial production today. It will cover, on the one hand, all the areas related to graphic arts (reproduction techniques, printing, supports and material characteristics, colours and inks, etc.) and it will also offer the tools needed to calculate budgets. This first part will be complemented by a current view of publishers from the business point of view.

  • Final Specialisation Diploma Project (6 ECTS)
Individual or group tutorials (depending on needs) of the three main projects to be completed during the Specialisation Diploma course: personal photography project (3 sessions), photography book project (1 session), monographic magazine project (1 sessions).
