Pol Julià and Kevin Garcia, 4th year students of the Bachelor of Design, have been awarded in the IKEA Inspiring Talents initiative, for the Hack Adulting project carried out together with Ada Reig from BAU and Nicole Ramirez from ESDi, to improve access to housing for young people.
Hack Adulting has been developed in the context of the Hogares Impulso project, organised by IKEA, Ayuda en Acción and Barcelona City Council, within the framework of Barcelona Design Week 2023, with the participation of students from different design centres.
Hack Adulting was born of the premise of offering "an alternative way of making adult life more pleasant and attractive to young people" that seeks to place the community of friends at the centre while favouring the creation of other bonds of trust or lightening up household chores and community bureaucracy.
The organisers also awarded the Casa Zero project created by David Franco of ESDi, Paula Navarro of BAU, Ivet Almaida of ESDAPC, and Tetyana Prokopchuk of LABASAD, which proposes a type of community flat to favour diversity, collaboration or respect for shared life and is centred on the minimalist philosophy.
Both proposals have been awarded jointly as they complement each other and offer a housing alternative for young people based on co-housing and flat-sharing models that facilitate their emancipation through a home in which they can live together in a stimulating, sustainable way while respecting their privacy.
