This final degree project offers a reinterpretation of life in a mediaeval fortified tower by conceiving the construction as a monolithic volume with a new interior architecture.
We take the opportunity to do something different and rather unconventional in a way that the project is conceived as a challenge and an opportunity to create two independent and non-traditional homes.
The visitor, as Zumthor says, takes a journey of discovery throughout architecture in which the sensations evoked are not merely visual but are created by the materials, the volumes and the textures, the conjunction of which seeks to achieve harmony.
We understand the existing volume as a box with openings, a set of façades that we have to respect and keep intact as they represent what we understand as the essence and the character of the project. A series of internal maxims are developed that govern our movement in the architecture and it is with these guidelines that we enter, we dialogue and we take decisions.
We use the architecture, then, and the respect for it, to link the past to the future and create a timeless framework in which to enjoy the simple fact of being in architecture. We want to provide the essential and offer the visitor the chance to lose themselves and find themselves in the space.
