Designing an educational context

The personal interest in promoting a new education that values the child and fosters their abilities has led to our detecting a lack of coherence between this and the space where it is carried out. The aim of this project was to design a new type of school context where the premise is the educational nature of its spaces.

The project has been based on a specific case, the Folch i Torres School, which works in traditional spaces. These spaces have been renovated to adapt them to an active learning methodology. To carry out this renovation, we started from eight concepts in the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, a world reference in education, and we have transformed it into project tools in the space: the degree of privacy, the flexibility, the connections and circulations that are created there, the use of polysensoriality and the relationship between interior and exterior, inter alia, such as comfort and luminosity.

This way, we have achieved a space where the whole educational value prevails over all else.
