The Eina Library presents Re-bel·lades / Re-velades: mirades femenines. Exposició 8M, a proposal created with the aim of making visible voices that, for a long time, have remained in the background. Within the framework of International Women’s Day and based on the Library’s documentary collection, the exhibition brings together works by women photographers from around the world and from different periods, highlighting perspectives that reveal other ways of seeing, narrating and understanding reality.
The featured authors and works speak of lives and trajectories often marked by difficulty, invisibility or resistance. These are gazes that are revealed through photography while also rebelling against imposed limits, building their own narratives from diverse and complex social, political and personal contexts. Despite the temporal and geographical distance between them, as well as generational differences, these authors share a common strength: the need to be seen and heard, using photography as a tool for expression, documentation and resistance.
The exhibition is an invitation to explore the Library’s collection from a new perspective and to highlight materials that allow us to rethink the narrative in a fairer and more inclusive way. It can be visited at Eina Sentmenat from 23 February to 15 March, and invites visitors to discover — or rediscover — the deep mark that women photographers have left on the history of art and photography.
