Enric Mas i Barceló

Degree in Fine Arts (specializing in sculpture) from 1990 at the University of Barcelona, and a PhD from the University of the Balearic Islands in 2016.

Teaching

Has taught the course Colour and Volume since 2009 for the Design Degree at EINA, as well as Screen Printing (since 2005). He previously taught Stamp Printing Techniques (2012-2013) and various other courses in the Higher Design Degree for EINA (1998 – 2005). Now he's teaching Contemporary editions and Image workshop.

He was a member of the Department of Art Education at the University of Barcelona between 1999 and 2009, teaching various classes in the Faculties of Teacher Training and Pedagogy. He currently collaborates with the recently created Applied Teaching Department, teaching as an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at the same university and coordinating the specialization of Visual and Art Education within the Master’s degree in Primary Education.

He has also periodically taught other courses to both adults and children, including “Masters of Art” and collaborations with Can’n Ginestar and with the Municipal Institute of Education in Barcelona.

Professional experience / research

Deputy director of EINA from February 2017 until Febraury 2019. He was previously Degree Coordinator from 2011 to 2013. He has also coordinated the knowledge transfer activities in 2010 y 2011. He also coordinated the specialization in Visual Creation for the Design Degree (2013 – 2017).

As a professional artist, his work has frequently been displayed in Ferran Cano gallery (Barcelona and Palma) and Billing Bild (Baar-Suiza), with whom he has presented at various international events: Arte Miami (United States), Kunst (Switzerland), ARCO (Spain). He is a member of visual poetry group Poeticart and art book group 13L.

He has been part of the inter-university research group IMAGØ, exploring the relationship between image and learning, as well as the group Vall, which studies teaching innovation. He is currently a member of the Group for Research into Design Studies and History (GRHED) at EINA.

Among his research efforts was curating the exhibitions “Francesc Barceló. Sculptures. 1955-1966” (2009) at the Barceló Foundation in Palma de Mallorca and “In Progress: Works from the MNAC Collection” for the Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc in Barcelona (2010).
