Study Plan: Craft Editing and Production
Post-digital Crafts (3 ECTS)
When cultural heritage and digital manufacturing meet, it becomes possible to preserve living craft traditions while developing new approaches to their design and production. This course provides the foundations for supporting traditional craft cultures as they evolve toward future contexts through emerging materials, technologies and practices.
Crafts and Worldviews (3 ECTS)
This module situates craft cultures at the centre of the critical challenges faced by today’s consumer society and explores how craft practices can guide us beyond mass consumption toward an inclusive and regenerative economy that supports collective well-being. The course investigates key aspects such as food or energy, combining ancestral knowledge that reconnects us with nature. The aim is to contribute to shaping future transformations.
Self-publishing (6 ECTS)
Self-publishing is understood as an ideological and aesthetic mode of practice in which authors become the producers, editors and managers of their own work. Excellence in craft requires research that deepens material understanding, stimulates the development of innovative tools and techniques, and drives creative effort with the aim of caring for and repairing our environment. The ultimate goal is the production of an original work as a unique piece, short series or collection.
Living Crafts 02 (1 ECTS)
Through collaborations with renowned craftspeople and craft brands, and via workshops led by local and international artisans, students will experience all stages of creation—from conceptualising an object to its completion. The module includes conceptual analyses of craft, expert lectures and visits to craftspeople and manufacturing workshops. These activities vary with each academic year.
Crafts and Discourses 02 (1 ECTS, online content)
Condensed content presenting ideas and contemporary practice models that expand the understanding of craft and its relationship with current debates. A range of references, themes and general concepts (historical, cultural, social, artistic, political, environmental and economic) is introduced to contextualise crafts as an integral part of the contemporary world. This second part places greater emphasis on philosophical trends.
Crafts and Design Management 02 (1 ECTS, online content)
This module prepares new professionals, focusing on excellence and specialisation, to develop their own ventures as entrepreneurs. Advanced design strategies are introduced to create value in products (concept, image, communication). In this second part, emphasis is placed on the concept and values underpinning the products created.
