Design is once again taking centre stage at the CSIO Barcelona arena. This week, students from Eina’s Bachelor in Design unveiled their proposals for the twelfth edition of “Un salto para la ciudad” (“A Jump for the City”), a competition inviting emerging creatives to reinterpret Barcelona through the obstacles featured in the international equestrian event.
The presentation took place at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, the regular venue for CSIO Barcelona and the Longines League of Nations™ Final, where students presented their concepts before a jury made up of professionals from the sporting, cultural and academic sectors.
Abril Acero, Carolina Gómez, Max Ilario, Sonia Juste and Júlia Salvadó, all students on Eina’s Design degree programme, developed the proposals as part of the Digital Representations III course, led by product designer and lecturer Jordi Esteve. Their creations offer fresh perspectives on the city, transforming Barcelona’s urban, cultural and visual references into obstacles designed for an international competition setting.
The jury responsible for assessing the projects included Ester Olló, Head of Communications and Press at Institut Barcelona Esports, part of Barcelona City Council; Alejandro Teodoro, Sponsorship and Communications Director at La Vanguardia; Pablo Sánchez Marquiegui, President of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona; Luis Comas, President of the RCPB Foundation; Santi Mercé, President of CSIO Barcelona; Daniel García Giró, Director of CSIO Barcelona; international course designers Elena Boix and Santiago Varela; as well as Javier Nieto Cubero, Deputy Director of Eina, and Jordi Esteve.
With more than a decade of history, “Un salto para la ciudad” has become one of the most distinctive initiatives linked to CSIO Barcelona, building bridges between creativity, sport and urban identity while turning the Olympic arena into a platform for experimentation and emerging talent.
