Light can transform any project, sensation or perception. It is a mediating element between the observer and the scene or object observed.
Light is an element that Àfrica Sabé, an architect specialising in lighting, knows very well. The students of the Bachelor of Design, from the subjects of Light Creation Laboratories 1 and 2 that she teaches, work experimentally with light as another material that allows them to project and define in any design project.
This classroom learning is complemented with visits to showrooms and offices of companies and institutions specialising in the field. During the month of October, the students visited XAL, Weber&Ducre and Wäsberg where, thanks to Albert Segovia, Specification Manager at XAL for Catalonia, Andorra and the Balearic Islands, they learned about lighting technology and the basic concepts of lighting projects, as well as taking part in an experimental workshop.
They also had the opportunity to visit the House of Light, Simon's new headquarters. Accompanied by Laura Torrents Jou from Simon's prescription department, they were introduced to the commercial knowledge of light and discovered how light is measured in the laboratory facilities. Simon's visit was also attended by the Lighting Objects subject of the Bachelor of Design, led by Jordi Blasi.
