Art, Science and Technology

Jo Milne, professor of the Degree in Design and artist in residence at Melis-UPF, participates in the series of audiovisuals 'Art + Science + Technology', produced by the Hac Te hub, in collaboration with The New Barcelona Post, where creators, researchers, curators, teachers and entrepreneurs reflect on the synergies between the three disciplines.

This alliance is promoted by a dozen Catalan institutions to position the Catalan capital as a reference hub for artech: the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), EINA, Hangar - Centre for artistic production and research, TheNewArtFoundation, Sónar, Fira Barcelona, Tech Barcelona, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).

What does an artist bring to a research centre, and conversely, can science and technology push the boundaries of creativity? These are some of the questions that the series, made up of four pieces that facilitate an understanding of the relationship between art, science and technology and their impact on Catalonia, aims to answer.

The chapter on collaborations will be published on 26 April, with the participation of Ernest Giralt, emeritus researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute-BI; Marc Gálvez, UPC alumnus; Ferran Marqués, lecturer at the UPC's Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering; and Jo Milne, lecturer at EINA and artist in residence at Melis-UPF.
