“Tot i Res” stems from an exploration of play and the objects that surround it. The project explores how household objects can become playable objects through children’s intrinsic imagination and creativity. It is based on pedagogies such as Waldorf, Pikler, and Reggio Emilia, as well as the Loose Parts Theory.
The result is “Tot i Res,” a collection of colored crayons that hide a surprise inside. Through the act of coloring, the crayon wears down to reveal a pair of elements representing household objects. From that moment, the search for real objects in the home begins, and free play starts, turning a pot, a spoon, or a key—objects that seem to be nothing—into everything.
