Natura Naturans is a practical project that emerges from experimentation with traditional printing techniques. Initially, the research focused on reinterpreting these techniques, but during the process, a conceptual shift occurred that changed the project’s direction. The focus was no longer on obtaining a fixed printed result, but on observing how materials interacted and reacted with one another. Through experimentation, marbling was discovered—a technique based on spontaneous and unpredictable reactions between liquid elements, moving away from a rigid and predetermined matrix.
The images generated through marbling create spontaneous forms that evoke structures found in nature. This paradox—where a quick gesture produces shapes that seem to result from slow and cumulative natural processes—becomes the conceptual core of the project. In this way, marbling brings into dialogue two opposing temporalities: the instantaneous action of artistic creation and the slowness with which nature shapes its forms.
Natura Naturans offers a perspective in which the fast time of marbling and the slow time of nature coexist through gesture and image.
Project presented at the Brut! Festival 2025.
