El Meüll

This is an interior design project aimed at creating a collective living and workspace in a rural setting, to allow residents to live life to the fullest without disconnecting from the world. The refurbishment of the building, located in the town of Meüll in the Pallars Jussà area of Catalonia, combines Medieval stone with contemporary design.

The space is distributed on three floors and a basement, connected by a common staircase, witha total floor space of 343 sqm. The residents are freelance professionals, who want to live and work in a collaborative space, with links to information and communication technologies.

The project was born from observation of the current taste among urban populations to move to rural areas and the consequent demand for interesting, low-cost living spaces in close proximity to nature. The goal of the refurbishment project is to make the space not only unique but also useful, and to take advantage of the appeal of its stunning location to promote economic and social development in the town.
