Urban acupuncture is based on a simple yet powerful idea: small, strategic interventions can bring about significant transformations in the way people perceive, use and take ownership of public spaces.
This workshop takes place over four sessions through a collaborative design process involving students, the creative community of La Clandestina, design professionals and local residents. Together, participants will imagine, design and implement one or more small-scale interventions aimed at improving the urban environment of the Sant Martí de Provençals neighbourhood.
The process revolves around a shared concept: diversity. Understood in its broadest sense, diversity refers both to the people who live in and use the neighbourhood and to the different forms of life that coexist within it. The intervention will therefore seek to create spaces that better support social diversity and biodiversity, recognising that both can contribute to making the neighbourhood more liveable, resilient, inclusive and vibrant.
Laboratory objectives:
- Develop a critical and constructive perspective on public space.
- Identify how social and biological diversity are expressed in the neighbourhood.
- Explore the potential of design as a tool for social and environmental transformation.
- Conceive and develop a small-scale urban intervention.
- Equip participants with the skills and confidence to initiate future collective actions.
