De todos en general

This research project offers reflections on the different methods of making a memory, some of which are obsolete because they exclude collective and dissident memories that will allow the re-evaluation of the official and hegemonic History. Heritage assets and historical monuments come from a patriarchal and hierarchical system that has left no room for dialogue and collectivisation of individual memories.

All of this leads me to propose a medium — cinema— that facilitates the honouring of marginalised voices and the rejection of imposed monumentalisation. Cinema makes the recollection of dissident memories possible, while the resulting audiovisual piece becomes an act of remembrance in itself, thus reconsidering both the message and the medium. Cinema of memory, in turn, diverges from hegemonic and commercial cinema and eliminates the boundaries between past, present and future; it links together different perspectives, dredges through the forgotten, and generates a living archive. De todos en general proposes the gathering of collective histories in an audiovisual format as a necessary action of change to make memory emerge.
