The world of Catalan architecture and design bids farewell to Antoni de Moragas i Spa, architect and interior designer, who has recently passed away at the age of 84. His professional career was distinguished by a contemporary and humanistic vision, attentive both to constructive quality and to the everyday experience of spaces.
His career was recognized with numerous awards, including the FAD Prize, the Barcelona City Architecture Prize, and the Domènech i Muntaner Prize. Beyond these honors, however, his most lasting legacy lies in his work as a professor at Eina, where he taught from 1977 to 2008.
For more than three decades of teaching, Moragas i Spa played a key role in consolidating the study of interior design at Eina. He taught subjects such as Technology and Projects III, Interior Design Projects, and the Final Project Workshop, educating generations of designers and architects who regarded him as a model of rigor, sensitivity, and commitment. In 1993, the school awarded him the Eina Prize in recognition of his fifteen years of dedication to teaching.
With his passing, Catalan design and architecture lose one of their most respected mentors. His legacy endures in his work, in the archives he left open for research, and above all, in the memory of the many students and colleagues who see him as an example of professionalism and dedication to education.
The Board of Trustees and the entire Eina community express our condolences to his family and friends, and our heartfelt recognition for his deep commitment to the world of design and culture.
