Eina is taking part in the AICAD 2025 Symposium with the presentation of the Walkshop, an innovative pedagogical tool based on learning through movement and critical observation of the environment. The workshop, to be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, is titled Resilience Thinking Approach Transdisciplinary Pedagogy Walkshop and invites participants to explore how resilience principles can be integrated into art and design education.
The workshop, led by Rafael de Balanzo Joue, Associate Professor at the Pratt Institute and at Eina’s Master’s Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD), introduces the Walkshop pedagogical tool, developed at Eina within the framework of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 and the SIT-PLU project.
This activity proposes an experiential journey through the Pratt campus to understand and apply resilience thinking as a transdisciplinary learning framework. Participants will work on concepts such as diversity, modularity, feedback loops, and adaptive capacity, analyzing them at different scales —from micro components to institutional and community systems.
The Walkshop combines theory and practice in four stages: a conceptual introduction to the principles of resilience; a guided exploration of the built and natural systems of the campus; a collaborative synthesis to apply these concepts in educational contexts; and an open discussion on the role of design in building more sustainable and interconnected communities.
The activity is part of the main theme of the AICAD 2025 Symposium, which focuses on examining the role of values in art and design education and practice. The symposium annually gathers faculty, researchers, and thought leaders from the universities and schools that make up the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD), with the aim of sharing experiences and promoting new forms of teaching in the creative fields.
Through its participation, Eina reaffirms its commitment to an open, interdisciplinary pedagogy that engages with contemporary social and environmental challenges, anticipating its contribution to Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026.
