Economic and Legal Management in the Illustration Sector, with Gemma Cortabitarte

On Monday 15 June, from 5 to 7 pm, Eina Sentmenat will host the talk Making a Living from Illustration: Economic and Legal Management Tools for Starting Out in the Sector, led by Gemma Cortabitarte, manager of APIC – the Professional Association of Illustrators of Catalonia – and a trainer specialising in career guidance within the field of illustration.

The session forms part of the Specialisation Diploma in Creative Illustration and Visual Communication Techniques
 and the Specialisation course in children’s and youth illustration. It will offer a practical introduction to the professional aspects of illustration beyond creative practice.

The talk will address topics related to the economic management and legal framework of creative work, including budgeting, contracts, copyright, and professional good practice within the sector. Resources and practical tools for developing a more sustainable and informed professional practice will also be shared.

Gemma Cortabitarte is the author of Cómo ser ilustrador (y vivir de tu trabajo). Consejos prácticos para tu día a día (How to Be an Illustrator (and Make a Living from Your Work). Practical Advice for Everyday Practice), a reference book for illustration professionals and students alike. She holds a degree in Journalism, a master’s degree in International Politics and a postgraduate qualification in Cultural Management. Her professional career spans cultural journalism, research, and professional consultancy within the illustration sector.
