In Ambush #7, Rosa Tharrats draws on her interest in the sensory and spiritual communication between different kinds of materials and bodies to create a collective fabric; a performative sculpture that captures—and intervenes in—the architectural and energetic traces of Eina Bosc. A group of participants uses textile fragments, rags, scraps, and recycled clothing as if they were strappo fabrics, adhering them to various surfaces of the building for 24 hours. This action, both symbolic and material, not only allows for artistic experimentation on the volume of the space. As the scraps detach from the walls, they also imprint, tear away, and thus capture the various traces left visible after the renovation: marks and peeled off paint, graffiti or materials that bear witness to the building's history, as well as the violence that took place within its walls. Recording these materials on fabrics, which are then sewn and assembled, sets in motion various collective exercises guided by the artist, whose practice often includes meditation and the invention of rituals, starting with weaving and expanding into installation, sculpture, and performance. Through sessions of collective breathing and laughter therapy, the aim is to generate instances where energy condenses or agglomerates to disrupt the stagnation of the space. Its energy is transferred to the fabrics, animated by the participants who inhabit them, laughing and moving beneath. Thus, CARRIER WAVE: Eina Bosc follows the model of past interventions developed by Tharrats, in which the collective spiritual and energetic flow was addressed through the element of water.
Rosa Tharrats (Barcelona, 1983) is interested in the sensorial and spiritual communication between different species of materials and bodies. Her work often starts with fabric and expands into installation, sculpture and performance. The practice of meditation and the application of rituals is often a common aspect of her work. Other recurring elements in his practice are the concepts of transformation, symbiosis or the natural-artificial relationship. His work has been exhibited at TBA21 (Córdoba, 2022), Art-o-rama (Marseille, 2022), Centro de Arte Maristany (Barcelona, 2022), Zona Guapo (Mexico DF, 2022), MACBA (Barcelona, 2021), Ehrhard Flórez (Madrid, 2022 and 2018), Barcelona Gallery Weekend (2021), CCCB (Barcelona, 2021), Museo de l'Empordà (Figueres, 2021), Bombon Projects (Barcelona, 2020), Arco Madrid (Madrid 2019), Apulia Land Arte Festival (Italy, 2017) or Galeria Cadaqués (Girona, 2015).
