For many years, religion has taken care of organising society and calming its fears. The distancing from religion has led to the overlooking of its architecture. Tàpies the painter believes in materialistic spiritualism, which brings me to religious architecture with its own identity, which is understood through its aesthetics, history, culture and evolution.
The space that shows this thought is the church of Nuestra Señora de Bellvitge. The original setting was made up of extensive fields, now replaced by large buildings and constructions. Its uses (scheduled masses, lectures and various events related to religion and the history of the church) will benefit thanks to the creation of a reception space related to the exterior by the entry of light and an exterior full of vegetation that will gather it. It will also recover its original piece, the structure. Furniture with a 1960s industrial appearance will relate to its mass-produced environment playing with materials and shapes united by colour. An intimate and cosy space will be created as though it were a small living room, which will bring together the public, the educators and the activities staged there.
It will regain its importance and leave behind the oblivion it currently experiences in a fight that will be resolved thanks to the interior design, which does not forget the originality of the church.
