Pasajero del no lugar (Passenger to nowhere) is an editorial project that aims to provide a graphic interpretation of Marc Augé’s anthropological theory of “non places.” The theory analyses the impact of the concepts of space, place and movement in a society of automated consumption like our own.
The final degree project presents an editorial project divided into two publications. One is a graphic interpretation and photographs of the book “Los no lugares. Espacios del anonimato. Antropología sobre la modernidad” (Non Places: Spaces of Anonymity, Anthropology on Modernity). The other is an accompanying publication that presents the designer’s own interpretation of non places, based on documentation and analysis of the contemporary urban context.
The “non place” is a concept that we coexist with, which modifies our conception of identity and communication, and therefore the aim of the project is not only to present the anthropological theory dynamically and provide added value in the design of the book, but also to depict the constant presence of this concept in contemporary society – a society that leads us to live in a constant transience, moving from place to non place – graphically.
