Lluís Serra Pla - Orenga

Orenga

The type foundry Tipografies celebrates its tenth anniversary. Orenga (Oregano in English) was the typographic debut of its creator Jordi Embodas. It is a typography that does not have serifs and avoids the sans-serif font in a way that it resembles the calligraphic lines subtly to which the typography has described as a type of typography that has Mediterranean scents.

In order to confirm the validity of his work throughout the years, a typographic specimen has been elaborated in order to enjoy the Orenga through the five senses: a set of handmade bar soaps that are shaped like mobile phones. From the most soft, lathery bar soap to the most rustic, exfoliant one, each typographic weight is associated with a different formula of soup. Yet, all of them have a common element: Oregano.

Considering the relationship between the two oreganos –the typography and the herb– from the beginning, an important process of investigation, experimentation and learning concerning the production has been pursued so as to develop this project coherently.
