PAPER HOLES is a publishing project that grew from the desire to create a children’s object book. Using the characteristics of an object book, the objective was to create a new form of visual communication to foster learning among young children in both a formal and an emotional environment.
The idea behind this Final Degree Project is to create a collection of bedtime stories using a new and different language. The support for each tale is its main character, who creates the story. Form and content combine through a visual code that runs through all the stories in the collection. The result is that not only does each book tell a story, but it becomes the story itself.
The main thread of each story is to accompany children at bedtime: support, images and texts that work together to reach a common destination. Therefore, accompaniment is the essence of the project. They are both the purpose and the result.
