Bento proposes importing into the West the compartmentalised Japanese transportable model of eating of the same name, adapting its plastic morphology to a rational one and inserting a small element of graphic design into the world of food, where colour compositions based on a grid system provides the user with information about food. Despite this, other existing forms of bentos will also be respected and promoted.
The main idea is to create a device that promotes a new form of eating outside the home which uses the visual nature of cooking instead of how it tastes. Given that selling a system is not possible, I propose offering the consumer a set of physical and virtual elements to help them adopt this system, such as the boxes containing the food, a website where they can share recipes, make purchases and find information, or even an online channel that broadcasts cooking programmes and/or ones about how to prepare bento, as well as other promotional and merchandising items. Therefore, the proposal is for the correct implementation of a model imported from a foreign culture, through a system of graphics based mainly on compartmentalisation, blocks and colour, created using its own typography and supported by a set of real and virtual applications, without being just a simple copy and achieving a good level of understanding and acceptance of the system and the product thanks to the promotion and visual attraction of the food.
