Lara García Díaz

PhD in Social Sciences from the Universiteit Antwerpen (UA, Belgium) and the Antwerp Research Institute for the Arts (ARIA, Belgium), and specialised in the field of cultural criticism and the theory of art and design with a Master's degree in Arts & Culture research from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU, Netherlands), graduating Cum Laude. She hybridises fields of action such as academic and artistic research, cultural mediation, pedagogy and critical thinking to address and analyse the conditions of possibility of cultural practices and the variables of creativity in the territories of contemporary art and design.

Teaching

Teaching Staff Researcher at EINA, visiting professor at Instituto Europeo di Design (IED Barcelona), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) or at the Dog Time programme of Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam) and lecturer at Royal College London (London), Het Nieuweunstituut (Rotterdam) or the National University of Ireland Maynooth (Dublin) among others.

Professional experience / Research

In the academic framework she has participated in a wide variety of conferences and symposia and has published in various indexed academic journals, as well as in books, catalogues and cultural magazines.

As a cultural researcher she has developed and participated in projects in museum institutions such as MuHKA (Antwerp), Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven) or Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons (Utrecht). She has also intervened as a researcher and speaker in the public programme of the Thailand Biennale (Thailand, 2021) ZonaMACO (Mexico, 2020), the Oslo Biennale (Oslo, 2019) or the Venice Biennale (Venice, 2018). She has collaborated as a researcher in projects funded by the European Cultural Foundation such as Culture for Solidarity (2018-2020) or European Pavillion (2020-2022) and has contributed as an expert in projects funded by Creative Europe Programme of the European Union such as Cultural and Creative Spaces and Cities (2019-2021) or LIVING (2018-2020).

Her artistic research has been developed through artistic residencies in centres such as Bulegoa (Bilbao, 2021) or In De Ruimte (Ghent, 2019) and through the feminist cultural collective Larre, collaborating with cultural centres and institutions such as La Capella (Barcelona), Halfhouse (Barcelona) or the Museu del Disseny (Barcelona) and producing research for PAAC, A-desk or the Fundació Daniel Nina Carasso.
