Ignacio de Antonio Antón

PhD in Art History, Research and Education, UCLM, with an FPI contract. Architect by the ETSAM-UPM, Madrid; Master in Performance Studies - New York University, with a Fulbright scholarship, and Master in Ecenic Practice and Visual Culture - UCLM/MNCARS.  

Professional experience / Research

Founder of the architecture and design collective Taller de Casquería, of which he was a member until 2015. The processes he develops are research-based practices, focusing on critical spatial practices. His work focuses on the modes and conditions of production and representation in art. Her latest investigations are performative devices about states of exception that can be constructed from encounter and dance. Spatial practicioner, performer and researcher, he proposes research contexts from critical spatial practice. He has developed curatorial projects such as AQUÍ CABE UN TEATRO (INJUVE Barcelona 2018) and CONTEMPLAR UNA SUPERFICIE INESTABLE (La Casa Encendida, Madrid 2021).

He currently hybridises his professional and artistic practice with teaching and research in various study programmes: Master in Advanced Communication and Architecture - UPM and in the Master in Scenic Practice - MNCARS/UCLM. Her research has materialised in pieces in exhibitions and visual arts residencies: El Ranchito (2015), Premio Arte Joven Ciudad de Gijón (2015), Solo Show- Casa Antillón (Madrid 2019), Making Futures (UdK Berlin 2019) or the Salón Nacional de Artistas de Bogotá (2019). He has presented pieces and lectures at venues such as Emily Harvey Foundation, Leal Lav, Teatro Pradillo, Matadero Madrid, Hangar, La Casa Encendida and Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo. As an architect, he specialises in the production design and project management of exhibition set-ups, scenographies and singular spaces, and has coordinated set-ups at the Fundación Telefónica (2021), Madrid Design Week (2022), Matadero Madrid (2016-18) and Museo Reina Sofía (2022).
