She studied Graphic Design at Escola Massana (1986–1991) and Novel Writing at Aula de Escritores (1999–2000). Between 2009 and 2011, she completed courses in Feature Film Screenwriting, Thriller Screenwriting and TV Scriptwriting as part of the Master’s in Film Screenwriting by Rodar y Rodar (UAB).
Teaching and research
She is the coordinator and lecturer of the Specialisation Course in Illustration for Children’s and Young Adult Publications at Eina, where she also teaches Creative Illustration. She has taught drawing and illustration at Massana and Elisava (Barcelona), the Municipal School of Art of Girona, the Municipal School of Art and Technology of Valencia, the School of Art of Las Palmas de G.C., and the Botín Foundation in Santander. She has also led numerous workshops and lectures for both children and adults.
Professional activity
As an illustrator, she is drawn to emotion, experimentation and the freshness of creative challenges. She has published over sixty children’s books and has extensive experience in various creative fields, mainly within the publishing industry. For sixteen years, she was a regular contributor to La Vanguardia newspaper.
As a writer, she believes in the transformative power of literature and its ability to awaken people’s sensitivity. She has published around thirty titles —from books for babies to young adult novels—, some of which have been translated into German, Catalan, Korean, Basque, French, Italian and Japanese.
As a teacher, she is passionate and committed to fostering her students’ critical perspective and helping them find their own voice.
Awards
She has received, among others, the Lazarillo Illustration Award, the Catalònia International Illustration Award, the Apel·les Mestres Award for Illustrated Children’s and Young Adult Literature, the White Ravens Award and the Patito Feo Award (Colectivo Andersen). She has also been awarded in various poster contests and twice received the Best Edited Book Award (Spanish Ministry of Culture).
In recent years, she has been granted the Creative Writing Fellowship from the Institution of Catalan Letters (2022) and the CREA Grant from the Barcelona City Council (2023).
