Òh!pera

Òh!pera. Newly created micro-operas

EINA is once again participating in Òh!pera, a project that combines small-format opera with design, with the work produced by the students of the Bachelor of Design, Contradicting the Night.

The project brings together young talents (musical composers, playwrights, stage directors, musicians, singers and design students from BAU, EINA and ELISAVA) to create three short contemporary operas, three stories one hundred percent of our time, which will be presented on 12, 13 and 14 July during the same evening at different venues of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

In the first micro-opera, Eliza, we meet a woman who discovers that her partner is an artificial intelligence capable of controlling her thoughts.

In the second, Blue like an orange, we are introduced to Sergei Krikalev, an astronaut who spent more than 300 days trapped aboard the Mir space station while his country, the Soviet Union, collapsed.

Meanwhile, in the third piece, Contradicting the Night, we will immerse ourselves in the most authentic essence of the city, accompanying a pair of lovers on a journey through the underground and rogue Barcelona. It will be performed by young musicians and voices that are the most visible face of the talent of the future.

This is the third edition of Òh!pera, a project promoted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Department of Culture and Creative Industries of Barcelona City Council through the Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub) with the aim of encouraging experimentation and learning by young students from different design disciplines in the city through a real experience of operatic creation. On this occasion, Òh!pera is part of the programme of the Grec Festival de Barcelona.

Tickets will go on sale from 18 April at 3 pm at this link.
