How can photography speak about existence? How can light, emptiness, or a shadow be transformed into a powerful visual message?
Based on the exhibition The Forms That Move Existence by Manel Esclusa, this visit invites you to explore photography as a language and as a way of thinking about the world. We will discover how the artist uses images to construct poetic and personal narratives, and we will delve into a creative practice inspired by his work.
→ Thursday, June 19th, from 5 to 7 PM
→ Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona (Plaça de Pons i Clerch, 2, 2nd floor)
→ Free guided tour
What will you find?
An experience that invites you to look differently. The visit is based on the exhibition The Forms That Move Existence by Manel Esclusa, a professional who explores the relationship between light, shadow, and perception, turning photography into a poetic form of thought.
Experimentation has become a constant in Manel Esclusa's creative process. Movements with the camera and prolonged multiple exposures allow the artist to draw with light and give prominence to darkness, shaping a personal visual language that has become one of the most distinctive features of his work.
We will explore how images can suggest the invisible, inhabit emptiness, and capture the ephemeral. Through a guided visit, you’ll engage your gaze and reflect on photography’s ability to reveal what often goes unnoticed.
In addition, we will also have the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Photographic Archive, led by Montserrat Ruiz, collections technician and curator of the exhibition, and Jordi Calafell, technician and photographer at the Archive. They will show how we work with collections like that of Manel Esclusa, from the initial stages before their arrival until they officially become part of our holdings.
