Manuel Marsol will dive into his work processes, providing concrete examples of how some of his books and illustrations were developed, as well as his professional journey, from his path as a student to EINA's Specialization Course in Illustration for Children's and Teenagers' Publications, 6 years ago now, bringing the close approach of a person who has developed a fast and consistent trajectory based on a strong personality.
This talk is the third in a series of open sessions organized jointly by the Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Illustration and Visual Communication Techniques and the Specialization Course in Illustration for Children's and Teenagers’ Publications at EINA.
Manuel Marsol (Madrid, 1984) is an illustrator specializing in the creation of illustrated books and albums. In 2017 he won the International Illustration Prize at the Bologna Children's Book Fair-SM Foundation.
He has also won the Edelvives Illustrated Album International Prize for Ahab y la Ballena Blanca (Edelvives, 2014) and the Award for the 5th Ibero-American Illustration Catalogue.
He also illustrated The Metamorphosis (Astre Rei, 2015) by F. Kafka, The Brazilian Cat (Ekaré, 2016) by A. Conan Doyle, La Venus de las Pells (Sisè Pis, 2016) by Sacher-Masoch, and the picture book and map Madrid, a minha cidade (Ànec Lògic, 2017).
With a degree in Advertising and Audiovisual Communication, he worked in advertising between 2009 and 2012, during which time he received awards at festivals such as El Sol and Cannes Lions. From 2010 to 2016 he combined editorial illustration with animation for Tiger Stores. In 2017, he taught illustrated album classes for the One-Year Design Courses at the IED in Madrid. In Mexico, he has held exhibitions, workshops, and talks at places such as CCEMx, FILIJ and CILELIJ (Mexico City), the FIL (Guadalajara), and the IAGO (Oaxaca).
