Specialisation Course in Illustration for Children's and Teenagers' Publications
The importance of illustration is unquestioned in the field of publications for young adults and children: there are very few that do not use it.
It has been proven that without drawings, textbooks, children's magazines and even literature for children do not stand a chance in a highly competitive market.
This course offers the possibility of exploring and developing the individual registers of each student and of adapting them to the specific characteristics of work for young people, and it provides participants with a broad, real and unprejudiced vision of what it means to become a children's illustrator.

Academic Guide (in Spanish)
Drawing applied to illustration (12 h)
Formal analysis (style, technique, composition, sketching, colour, etc.) and analysis of the narrative capacity of the drawing as a technique of expression. Identification and perfection of one's own style.
Magazine illustration (12 h)
Analysis of the characteristics of illustration applied to periodical publications aimed at children and young people, and of the different types of content (stories, games, pastimes, short stories, etc.). Development of a project adapted to this medium.
Text Analysis (9 h)

Narrative analysis of texts based on leading works in the history of children's and teenagers' literature.
Writing Workshop (9 h)
Practical narrative creation based on descriptive exercises.
Publications for pre-readers (12 h)
Study of the psychological and perceptive characteristics of children aged between 0 and 3 and creation of a project adapted to these requirements.
Illustrated children's albums (18 h)
Analysis of the formal and narrative characteristics of the illustrated album, traditionally the most iconic support of children's literature, in which artistic quality plays the leading role. Starting up a personal children's album project.
Text book (12 h)
Study of the determinants that text books have (concision, clarity, speed of understanding, etc.) and the resources needed to achieve a good balance between the educational functions and pleasing, original and often fun presentation, aimed at aiding school learning.
Collection books (18 h)
Analysis of the relationship between fiction text and visual narration through works published in the leading publishing collections aimed at children and young people.
Literary text illustration (18 h)
Illustration project of a literary text, focusing the attention on the coexistence of the literary and the visual narrative and on such aspects as rhythm, viewpoint and emotional adequacy, character descriptions, the importance of settings and voice registers.
