Eina is taking part in Open Barri Sarrià i Vallvidrera, an initiative of the 48h Open House Barcelona festival as part of the World Capital of Architectur, that invites visitors to discover distinctive architectural spaces and the heritage of the city’s neighbourhoods.
On Saturday 27 June, from 10 am to 7 pm, Eina will open the doors of two buildings that form part of its campus: the Palau dels Marquesos de Sentmenat and Eina Bosc. Visits are free and do not require prior registration.
The event offers an opportunity to explore two spaces that reflect the evolution of the institution and the dialogue between heritage, education, design and contemporary creative practice.
Through its participation, Eina joins a programme that highlights architecture as a means of understanding history, urban transformation and the identity of Barcelona’s neighbourhoods.
Eina Sentmenat
The Palau dels Marquesos de Can Sentmenat forms part of the Eina Campus, together with the facilities at Eina Bosc, where students study on the Bachelor in Design, master’s degrees, postgraduate programmes, advanced studies and doctoral programmes.
Located in the Sarrià neighbourhood of Barcelona, the building dates back to the fourteenth century, when it was an agricultural farmhouse known as Mas Teixidó. In the seventeenth century it passed to the Sentmenat family, who gradually transformed it into a stately residence. In 1779, Andreu Bosch converted it into the summer residence of the Marquesses of Sentmenat, and during the nineteenth century towers and ornamental features were added, giving it the monumental appearance it retains today.
Following a variety of uses and a period of decline during the twentieth century, the palace was restored in 1994 by Eina through a refurbishment project led by architects Antoni Ubach and Miquel Espinet. Today, the site combines historic heritage, educational activity and nature, with romantic gardens, sculptures and extensive green areas connected to the Collserola mountain range.

Eina Bosc
The Eina Bosc building represents a new chapter in Eina’s history. Located at the foot of the Collserola mountain range, it brings together historic heritage, contemporary architecture and artistic experimentation. Opened in 2022 as an extension of Eina, it was conceived as a flexible space dedicated to workshops, artistic production and interdisciplinary practice.
The building has a long and complex history. Originally an isolated house, it was gradually expanded over time. During the Franco dictatorship, it housed Llar Santa Marta, a religious institution for the confinement and “re-education” of young women, and was later converted into a residential care centre for children and young people (CRAE Vilana). The refurbishment undertaken by the Eina Foundation in 2021 preserved visible traces of the building’s past, transforming it into a living architecture in a constant state of change.
Today, Eina Bosc is an educational and cultural space linked to the Eina Campus, where art, design, nature and pedagogical innovation coexist. It also hosts Emboscades, a programme of collaborative artistic interventions that explores the creative and architectural possibilities of the site.
