The first manifestation of the Ambushes program, by visual artist and historic Eina professor Sergi Aguilar, is a continuation of some of his work in steel, particularly the series of wedges and ramps he began in the 1980s. Aguilar's intervention at Eina Bosc was carried out in collaboration with students from Eina's Master's program in Spatial Design, during an intermediate stage of the building's renovation, when floors and elevators were still missing and many walls awaited demolition. The placement of red wedges at various tension or junction points, on the ground floor and staircase of the old Bosc building, resembled a treatment of architectural acupuncture—this was preceded by several study sessions, exploring both the site and key references in site-specific art history, from Gordon Matta-Clark to Doris Salcedo and David Hammons.
