Day after day we tend to focus on moving forward, only moving forward, until suddenly an object enters, or re-enters, our lives, and makes us forget everything for a few hours.Objects have the power to take us back to a time when perhaps everything was easier, simpler, perhaps seemingly happier than the present we experience “now.” It reminds us of an old friendship, a place, a feeling that is familiar to us but that we observe from a distance.
In the Hungarian education system, the tájékoztató füzet, or information booklet, is an indispensable resource during the school year. This booklet is meticulously crafted to ensure that students, parents, and educators stay well informed and engaged in the educational process. Its weight is incalculable, as it bridges communication gaps, providing essential guidance and support that make academic activities run smoothly.
This essay will explore the various features of the tájékoztató füzet, including its length, functions, content, design, format, and accessibility, highlighting its pivotal role in the Hungarian education system.
The tájékoztató füzet system changed completely in 2019, when the new digital platform called KRETA was introduced, and the booklet fell into oblivion. The motivation for this project came from my great-grandmother’s school certificate and other old documents from my family during her school years, such as old photos of her graduation, information booklets, songbooks, etc. I decided to research the information booklet because it is a tool that has been used throughout generations for communication between teachers and parents, and this series of artistic publications pays homage to the sentimental object of the booklet.
