Restoration of Can Saseres

The work proposes the restoration of a fifteenth-century farm, to the north of the city of Girona, that has lost its functionality over the years. The aim of the restoration is to combine the communal and private spaces to adapt them to the users’ changes of needs. To do this, I have used the existing architecture and taken the environment and sustainability into account, using local materials and ensuring that the new construction is long-lasting. The restoration rearranges the exterior and redistributes the interior in a way that uses spaces that were previously used for production or storage purposes. Modifications worthy of highlighting are the complete enclosure of one of the exterior spaces, the construction of new stairs and the creation of a new opening on the rear façade. This project also takes energy savings into account, so the window glass is changed and the roof is insulated to achieve comfortable temperatures all year round.
