Removing stereotypes from tattoo parlours

This project is based on analysis of existing tattoo parlours in Gracia and the creation of new premises and is governed by fresh ideas that lead to a different concept of space for this technique. The foundation of this space are based on the initial part of the project, culminating in a formal proposal. The use of fields outside the tattoo industry and from interior design help establish a space rich in sectors such as philosophy and cinematography, creating knowledge that leads to a new ritual for the creation of tattoos and a space governed by this process.

As well as the survey of tattoo parlours, the stereotypes, conventions and factors that influence their design were analysed and observed. The aim of the project is to make radical changes to these businesses, a new ritual of experience and, ultimately, a way of differentiating them that can be used by any of the existing parlours, giving users a richer experience and raising their awareness during the process. It questions prejudices, not without naming them beforehand and bearing them in mind, to create an unprecedented space.
