Periferias

Periferias is a publishing project that was born with the aim of informing, shaping and empowering the Barcelona neighbourhood of El Carmel through its history, as well as the context of the neighbourhood, its people and the problems it has encountered since its origins, in the urban and social spheres above all, and how these have evolved over time.

The project explores the term "neighbourhood" and speculates on its limits and space and tries to reflect on its condition as a peripheral neighbourhood and its state of inequality. The project seeks, through of design, to generate criticism, impact and collective memory to finally give a graphic form to this whole history and thus to order and dignify it. On the other hand, different artistic projects developed in the neighbourhood by local people are shown. Interviews and reports to the neighbourhood, and articles of great interest both to the people of the neighbourhood and to outsiders, which reflect on identity, being part of a group among others.

Finally, the project is completed thanks to the collection approach: a magazine every 6 months from a "peripheral" neighbourhood (in all its contexts) of Barcelona.
