L’art com a trobada. Disseny i gestió d’una exposició d’art contemporani des de la perifèria de la institució.

There are many different agents with varying influences in the art world. A work of art is not a direct conversation between artist and spectator, but is filtered through the interests of others. Museums follow protocols and do not always adapt to the needs of a work, thus influencing the conditions in which it is created. The art within a museum is a captive of the system and assumes other, parallel functions to the one it was created for.

Art that is banished from the museum and industry’s vested interests lacks scenarios for development. Emerging artists who seem to lack either the ability or the wish to succumb to this imperative system require a place to show their work. Within my generation, artists who follow institutional paths coexist with others who, by necessity, vocation or inclination do not follow the usual course and cannot count on an ideal context to share their work. The exhibition arises from my interest in the art world and how it relates to my environment.

This project brings a personal imaginary to the table, one that I have seen not only represents me, but also defines a certain artistic sector.

The seven artists who participated in this project are people who are able to transmit, through their work, a message that is both personal and contemporary, as behooves our generation. They create for their own pleasure, and are not motivated by any other considerations than the devotion they have for the process of creation. Their processes and methods are very different but a similar feeling has led them to coincide in this space, a flat in Eixample. In this context, we have needed to redefine the terms associated with the figure of the artist, the curator and the spectator. All three have lived in the same domestic space, receiving feedback.

For me, this exhibition is a declaration of principles that fully reflects my artistic discourse. I consider it a work of art in itself.
