Rosa Lozano - La lleteria

La lleteria (The Dairy)

La lleteria is a place in the centre of Sabadell that sells, makes and serves fresh milk and its by-products and where they also give workshops on food. The aim of the project is to recover a type of artisan business that has not traditionally been linked to design.

The premises, an early twentieth-century Catalan Modernist mansion, has two independent floors and only has natural light on the façade. For this reason, a skylight has been considered for the part at the rear, which includes the access staircase, to give light to the whole premises and integrate the two floors.

The spaces have been planned taking integration and transparency into account as the cornerstones. The sales, production and café areas are located at the same counter, and variations in height mark the passage from one space to the next. The tasting area is divided into an interior area and an exterior area, which is below the moving roof. The central counter, and the difference in height and the flooring, mark this division. The kitchen-workshop and a multi-purpose room are found on the first floor.
