La Asunción Design Centre and Market

This final degree project proposes a collaboration project between professionals from the same sector to incentivise dissemination, interaction and start-up in the field of design. The project is located in two former industrial warehouses in Barcelona's Poblenou district, with a view to incentivising the reuse of the architectural heritage – in this case, Barcelona – and the possibilities for the project which initiatives like Poblenou Urban District currently offer.

The programme has three key areas: the creation of a design centre and market for designers, the refurbishment and restoration of the industrial warehouses and the land attached to them. All this is through the creation of a modular system that by being repeated and extended throughout the site joins the warehouses and exterior space together and marks a clear difference between the buildings and the content, with matching textures and transparencies that respect pre-existence and give value to the new proposal.
