The project is based on the idea that a school is much more than a space. For this reason, I researched into the architecture, the interior and exterior spaces, the entry of light, the uses and time. I studied how to make room in the best way possible for the infants and primary education groups, the permanent teachers, the management, reception, the arrival of the children at school, the meeting with parents or family members... in other words, how life goes on every day at the school.
Also, the new Nausica school optimises the interior image of its building through the accesses, routes and uses. The intervention does not change the construction system of the façade, while there are two decisive changes to the interior for the organisation of the space of the classrooms and the service areas: the symmetry of the load-bearing walls and the atmosphere created around the staircase. With this proposal, the whole acquires a more orderly and flowing vision, as well as some new spaces such as the two libraries, the dining room and the new psychomotricity room/gym. The new staircase becomes the protagonist: it is the principal core of the building and acts as a distributor for all the floors.
