Andrea Pérez Fernández

She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona, with a thesis entitled Arte y política en Hannah Höch: Dadaísmo, socialismo y emancipación femenina durante la República de Weimar (2023). Graduated in Journalism with a minor in Humanities (UPF, 2017), she has a master's degree in Citizenship and Human Rights: Ethics and Politics, specializing in Political Philosophy (UB, 2019). In addition, she has training in theater and in the field of dubbing.

Teaching / Research

At Eina she teaches the subject of Visual Communication in the Degree in Design. She is also a guest professor on the postgraduate course "Analysis of contemporary capitalism" (Faculty of Economics and Business, UB). She also collaborates as a teacher with AFOPA ("Group of Permanent Training Classrooms for the Third Age of Catalonia"). And she has been a predoctoral professor at the University of Barcelona, specifically on the subject of History of Culture and in several elective courses.

She has been a researcher at the Philosophy and Gender Seminar (University of Barcelona) since 2019 and director of the Social History of Political Thought Group of the Catalan Society of Philosophy, a subsidiary of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.

Professional activity

She currently combines research, teaching, editing and translation. Her research focuses on the relationship between art and politics in Germany at the turn of the century.

She has published in high-impact scientific journals and has participated in numerous national and international conferences. She has carried out research stays at the Freie Universität in Berlin, at Loughborough University, at Helmut-Schmidt Universität in Hamburg and at the CSIC Institute of Philosophy. She is currently working on a joint project on the origins of photomontage with the illustrator Atxe, partially funded by the Culture Moves Europe program (European Commission).

Awards

• 2024 Mary Nash Prize from the Contemporary History Association.
• Editor and translator (with Isabel García Adánez) of the compilation of texts Dos mujeres con gato: Escritos sobre las artes de Hannah Höch y Lu Märten (Tres Hermanas, 2023).
