Students of the third year of the Degree in Design at EINA, within the subject lighting projects / design of lamps, have intervened in the patio of Palau Moja, one of the locations participating in the light Festival LLUMBCN 2015 occuring this weekend February 6th to 8th in Barcelona, Friday through Sunday, after dark (6pm onwards).
In keeping with the subject’s main topics to have developed the project, students have created an object proportional to the space provided, with a specific functionality beyond lighting. Inspiration has been received through the historical knowledge of the Palace of the Marquis of Comillas; his richness and the fact that he had become host and patron to Father Cinto Verdaguer, who wrote and dedicated his famous epic poem Atlantis (L’Atlàntida) to him.
"Our assembly wants a poetic and ironic vision while recreating an imaginary around a dinner scene in the courtyard of the palace. The Marquis and the Poet dine under a lamp of pure geometry that imprisons the light of ideas while leaving the table set in the twilight over a black carpet, where a few oranges are the only remaining testimonials of the forbidden fruit that Heracles took from the garden of the Hesperides. Through this scene frozen in time, we would like to subtly update the reflections and questions metaphorically aroused by Verdaguer in his great epic poem."
Construction design based on the projects of students Maria Jané and Nil Vicens, with close collaboration of all students within the subject Projects 3 Lighting / Lamp Design, taught by Josep Aregall.
