Autonomous vehicle: Design of fictions and realities

The third edition of the ATOPIC fiction design workshops on the EINA Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD) is under way.

On this occasion, we will be developing the usage imaginaries of Carla, the virtual learning device for autonomous vehicles developed by the brilliant minds of engineers and artists at the Computer Vision Centre (CVC) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Carla runs a simulation of virtual environments and scenarios to train the algorithm in autonomous vehicles. Over two months, we will be working on the prototype outreach, using fiction as a design technique and planning its uses, forms, dystopias, etc.

The project is part of the Contemporary Design module, led by Elena Bartomeu and Dolors Soriano, and features the collaboration of Fernando Vilariño, deputy director of the CVC, and Nuria Martínez.

The results will be presented in public in January 2021.
