Abraça el monstre workshop at Barcelona Dibuixa

The team of the Postgraduate Diploma in Narrative Illustration for Children's and Teenagers' Publications is holding the workshop "Abraça el monstre" (Embrace the monster) as part of the Barcelona Dibuixa festival, on Sunday 23 October from 11 am to 3 pm at EINA Bosc (Carrer del Bosc, 2).

Mercè Canals, Lluïsot, Gusti and Gabriela Rubio propose this activity in which they invite all participants from 5 to 99 years old to create the monster they want, to explore drawing transgressing the rules, moving away from the correct proportions and the supposed beauty. Monsters are our fears, insecurities, oddities or differences. When we draw, monsters often emerge, which grab our hands and do not let us go on.

The workshop invites you to embrace characters without complexes and we will get each person to draw their own monster, unique and unrepeatable. The team will accompany the participants by suggesting effective ways of weaving the drawing and filling it with textures to achieve a coherent finish. In this way, each person attending the workshop will be able to draw their own unique and unrepeatable monster.

Co-produced by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) and the Museu Picasso de Barcelona, this year's edition of the Barcelona Dibuixa festival has the embrace as its thematic axis, with the aim of generating a reflection on the value of the aspects of our daily lives that have been affected by the situation experienced.

The poster for Barcelona Dibuixa 2022 is the work of the Barcelona illustrator Mariona Cabassa, professor of the Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Illustration and Visual Communication Techniques at EINA, who will also give a workshop at the festival together with Adolfo Serra. The event will also feature a workshop by the artist Martina Manyà, who is developing the winning project of the LAB Collserola Tornen les esquelles.
