UH4 Pediatria is the renovation project of a hospital unit at Mataró Hospital, specifically for the creation of a paediatrics department. The Maternity Unit currently includes the Paediatrics Department, but its facilities are not suitable for patients. Therefore, the aim is to create a more welcoming, warm and friendly overall unit with work space.
On the one hand, the changes have to link the corridor and rooms through the entrances to each of these rooms. At the same time, the rooms must be sufficiently flexible to adapt to the patients' needs. And, on the other, 3 different zones need to be created throughout the unit: one for patients' families (a chill-out or study room), one for those who work in the unit (nursing control) and another for hospital patients (bedrooms, entertainment room and study space).
Finally, lighting has been used in both the rooms and corridor to create two areas. Indirect lighting (warm light) and direct lighting (cold light) has been installed in the covering strips.
