Renovation of Casa Clara

Casa Clara is an interior design project carried out in an old mansion measuring 600 m2 in the old part of the island of Ibiza, Dalt Vila.

The project renovates this mid eighteenth-century space to give it a new use, to become a small six-bedroom hotel refurbished under the premises of local architecture.

The differentiating factor is the desire to express what the life and tradition of the island is like without forgetting the needs of today’s public. At the same time, it avoids doing away with the present state and structure of the building as it aims to adapt to it as far as possible.

The design challenge is to ensure, through different methods, that the customer experiences the roots of Ibiza without having to go far from the city centre, while arousing their interest in the roots and tradition of the island.

Consequently, the solution that has been adopted has been to create a differentiation between two eras thanks to the contract between materials. The building has been emptied to condition the vertical communications and the building’s usage map has been redistributed with the potential user in mind.

In addition, with the careful and strategic choice of its location, the project seeks to foster the activation of the old town.
