INSITU

INSITU is the brand of a company that creates welcome packs containing local and gastronomic products from the place where the apartment hiring this service is located.

The project consists of creating and designing the identity of a welcome products pack for standard tourist apartments. Users are all national and international guests who stay at tourist apartments (in its widest sense and different types). Product packaging has been designed that includes local freebies, a map with directions and information about the neighbourhood in the town and an informative editorial about the products in the freebie. A website has also been created where apartment managers can acquire the packs and guests can see historical information about the local products in each pack.

In terms of naming, INSITU is a Latin expression which means “in the place”, and is commonly used to designate an event that occurred in that place. INSITU represents the background of the project, as it creates an initial gastronomic and cultural-historical welcome experience of the place in which users have chosen to stay.

The main challenge for the project is to use design as a medium/tool to resolve and overcome the conditions that have developed in the tourist accommodation sector and create:

The development of the project means using the products as a tool to create an experience in users. An example of this is the self-management of the welcome products, as users can consume them, save them as a memento or give them as a souvenir.

The design of a local produce welcome pack is a service designed primarily as a solution for small agencies or individuals with tourist apartments. However, it can also be applied to large apartment and aparthotel chains.
